Summer Vacation 2007Wow, I didn't realize it has been such a long time since I have written a blog. So lets us get started...
We had a weird summer this year I found, with July beening very warm, and August being really cold and rainy. But all in all we had a pretty fantastic summer. At the end of July we took our annual family vacation, this one being the farthest we have ever travel together. We started south were we spent our first part of our vacation in Glacier National Park, Montana were we travel the Road to the Sun. It was probably the most beautiful mountain drive you could possibly take....EVER! We camped there for 3 nights and hiked and enjoyed the sencery and wild life. There were Black bears, Grizzly Bears, Courgars, deer, moose, big horn sheeps, and etc... From there we travelled many, many, many more kilometeres which brought us to Spokane, Washington where we stayed an night, and took advantage of the American stores...I was estatic to be able to finally go to Victoria Secret. From there we travelled to Oregon where we stayed at South Beach and played in the ocean, shopped, biked, hiked. I have to say it was a nice place to be. We were very lucky to witness baby turtles hatching and riding the tide out to the ocean...there were so many it was absolutely amazing. We also saw probably I would have to say the biggest jelly fish I have ever seen, it had to of been the size of my foot. I would have to say it was probably Brody's favourite place to be on the whole trip...he is such a water boy. Ashton was enjoying the water much more this year, though he had more fun letting the tide chance him in.
After we stayed our nights there we headed to the Redwood's in California...you know Paul Bunyan and Babe. These are where the largest trees in the world reside. Some of these trees were well over 3,000 years old. And 350 ft tall, and 60 feet in diameter wide. This was my favourite place to be. There were these banana slugs that acually looked like banana's and when they get older they started to look like old banana...you know with the brown spots. When they were nervous or felt threatened they left this slim behind. Some of them were really small and some where huge...you will have to see the pictures ;-). Then we head back home stopping at various places on the way back. The time we pulled back in our drive way we accumulated over 5000km. And the kids behaved fantastic :-) May Long 2007May Long was GREAT!!
We went down to Lac Sante (My Husband's Parents Lake Lot), it was so awesome that they let us use it. They came down on Sunday to bring more firewood and say 'HI'. Brad's mom looked pretty happy to see all the kids running around aimlessly. Its like she remember when her kids use to do the same :-).
Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. We arrive Thursday evening at about supper time. Set up our trailers...man they're were some big trailers. We managed with some manuvering to make it work so we could all be together. Friday and Saturday was really rainy and cold, but with the fire roaring and the booze flowing we seemed to stay quite warm. The kids didn't even seem to the notice the weather at all.
Sunday the sun finally broke through the clouds. Kim was waiting to get his boat on the water. He has had some bad luck with it lately. They got it out into the water, already to let it ripe and...... well they canoed that baby back to shore. Poor Kim :-(. That is no little boat either.
Brad and I are hoping to make it a ritual for May Long to go up to the lake with our friends. Everyone enjoyed each other, and the kids...man not one complaint. They were so wonderful. It was really, really fun.
Thank you Heather, Jason, Nicole, Amber, Amy, Jeff, Cassidy, Savannaha, Kim, Sherri, Zach, Chantel, Sterling, Blaine, and Tysen for joining us this may long weekend, and I hope you join us again next year :-P
Finally Good weatherI am so happy we finally are at the end of winter...it was horrible this year. It lasted almost 8 months. I guess it was making up for last year where it only lasted 1.5 months...anyways I am glad it is gone!!
We purchased a new tent trailer. We really enjoy camping, and already have so many places to be. May long Amy, Jeff, Cassidy, Savannah, Sherrie, Kim, Zach, Robin, Kevin, Heather, Jason, Nicole, Amber, Chantel, Sterling, Blaine, Tysen and of course us will be out at Lac Sante. And for Canada Day long weekend we will be going south of Edson with the Gratton family. Then our annual summer trip with be in late July till Mid August. We will be going to Writing-On-Stone, Waterton National park both Alberta and Montana side, then back up through the Okanagon, Kelowna and Penticton...but of course we have been known to find alternate routes :-P. Its nice with it being our vacation. We will be meeting up for the first part on the vacation with Pam, Mike, Jordan, Brandon, Amy, Jeff, Cassidy, Savannaha, Sherrie, Kim, and Zach. Which will be great! We always enjoy the company of our friends.
Stay tuned for pictures after the long weekend :-P
KelownaWell, my husbands work sent everyone to Kelowna for a retreat. There I was (I believe) 105 that went. We took West Jet to and from. I thought for sure they would be all crazy, and the other passengers would be looking for escape routes...lol. Its a good thing it is only a 45 minute flight, or I am sure there would have been a rowdy party on board!
We stayed at the Grand Okanagon Resort and Spa, it is in Downtown Kelowna. Brad went Golfing on friday, while I joined a group of 25 on a 24 kilometer bike tour. Well let me rephrase that, a winery bike tour. It was a lot of fun, but after the first winery it got more interesting. The view of the mountains were, not as important as making sure you didn't fall of the cliffs. After the second winery we hit, I was wishing I would of ate breakfast...lol. When we finally hit Penticton, with 25 tipsy Edmontonians. We had to go through Pentictons downtown core to get to the resturant that was in a light house on the water where we would be eating and ending our bike tour. We had to go around a round about. That was humerous. I am sure glad the cars were patient that day, I am sure we came out of no where. That was the most interesting 8 hours ever!
We got back to the hotel at about 4:30pm where we had 2.5 hours to get ready for a group dinner. It was at this amazing Italian resturant not to far from the hotel. The food was coming non-stop, as well as the wine. For four hours there was food coming and going from the table with out time to digest. But delicous. I could hardly keep by eyes open by the end.
We had a chance to rent a car the next day and do our own thing. Where we shopped, and had some lunch. But for the most part we just took advantage of the mountains and hiked. It was definitley perfect weather to do just that. It made me realize how nice it would be to pick up the family and relocate there. I am sure in a few years it will be definitley possible to do just that. Just have to plan!
Please feel free to take a look at the pictures in my album. (Kelowna Retreat) I'm Tired Of...Just need to say it.
What I am Tired Of....
I'm tired of- The way you look at me. I'm tired of- The way you talk to me. I'm tired of- The way you think you know it all. I'm tired of- The way you hold my life on your line. I'm tired of- The way you blame others instead of looking at yourself. I'm tired of- The time I wasted trying to get away from you. I'm tired of- The the danger you put my child in and your own. I'm tired of- The failure you turned out to be. I'm tired of- The crushing pain that exists when you arrive. I'm tired of- The careless parenting you provide. I'm tired of- The condescending attitude you carry. I'm tired of- The hatred I have inside for you. I'm tired of- Your deciteful nature. I'm tired of- The damage I keep trying to repair. I'm tired of- The nightmares that still haunt me. I'm tired of- The guilt that still plagues me. I'm tired of- Seeing your face. I'm tired of- Hearing your voice. I'm tired of- The fight I still have to endure. I'm tired of- YOU! The Construction Party ThemeAwesome, Awesome, Awesome!
I have to say, I was all panicy that I wouldn't get this party done in time, but to my surprise it pulled through. (My wonderful husband always tries to reassure me). Though I didn't get Ashton's present yet, it is still in transit. Its a Construction bedding set, it is coming from Wisconsin so hopefully it should be here shortly.
As for decorations and cake. I made a Tonka cake, well I made the mud and put it in the back of a tonka truck toy (cleaned and lined with waxed paper of course. (-:)). The kids and parents thought the cake was hilarious. Some of the kids were not convinced that it was cake, just MUD! After noticing others were eating it they joined in. I was pretty happy. In the end the cake was pretty much all consumed.
Unfortuntley they're no party accessories for construction themes, so I had to find and make things myself. But the good news is, that Edmonton party supply stores will be getting Construction party themes in stock in the beginning of March for anyone who is interested and lives in Edmonton. There ya go.
We did have a lot of kids at the party, approximately 12. So, Thank you to the parents that were so helpful during that time, you are the best. I am sorry to the friends who we couldn't invite do to lack of space. I know you still love us.
Chow everyone.
Love, Xena

PartiesOk, I have to say I feel horrible.
Let me tell you why...
Since the beginning for December I have been planning parties. I had my sons party on the 9th December, where he invited lots kiddies from his class, and plus we had close neighbours, friends, and family. It was a fantastic party... Oiler themed. Made a cake that was a hockey puck with the Oiler logo. All in all it was fantastic.
Then Christmas was creaping closer, and closer. The baking, the parties, suppers, etc... There were so many this year it was unbelievable. They were all fantastic don't get me wrong. I loved the fact we had a chance to celebrate christmas with so many of our friends, family and neighbours. Even know it did feel like christmas lasted 3 weeks. And I am sure it will take even longer to work off all of the wonderful food.
New Years was awesome as well. We hung out with Amy, Jeff, and some of there friends. They had a bbq, and some unique dishes that I really enjoyed. As well as boys against girls, bluffing, drinking games. They really helped bring in the new years right! I usually have a hard time drinking, I am always worried about the day after...you know the hangover. Especially the hangover with kids! This year my mother took them for the night, and we picked them up at supper time where we met for a new years dinner at my grandparents. So it wasn't so bad...the hangover part!
But see now it is time for my youngest sons birthday party and I am partied out. Though I will have it done in time for the big day. For his party I am going for a construction theme. The cake will be the easiest I will probably have ever made, but yet so very unique...you will all have to wait till I post a picture. But I wish I had more enthusium for this party, and that is why I feel horrible. I feel I could give it more, but I am so tired of party planning. So all in all the guilt is what is making me work hard on this party.
Well I will update everyone after the party with pictures and details.
Love, Xena
xoxo ChristmasChristmas:
This year sure has been busy. We had tons of parties to attend. Which is wonderful. I really enjoyed partying with everyone. My kids have been handling it very well. You know the very late nights... on average I think bedtime has been well past 2 in the morning. But they sleep in, and seem to be very happy. I thought for sure they would be cranky by now.
Brody my oldest will be putting reindeer food out so that the reindeer can have a snack like Santa Clause. Santa is bringing him a GT snow racer. I think he will be pretty stoked when he sees it. Ashton is getting a chain powered tractor bike. I hope his legs are long enough. I more excited then the kids I think. There is nothing more exciting then feeding off your own childrens excitement. Well and the shredding of wrapping paper going all over the place!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas, and please remember the important things in life. Family and Friends. Regardless of any situation that may deture you otherwise.
